What, Who, How or Why attracts you to this place?
The only State Park in O’Brien County, and one of few State Parks in the area that is close for area
residents to enjoy the beauty and the recreational opportunities of this place!
What makes you happy about O’Brien County?
O’Brien County is a fantastic place. Though I live outside the county, I work in and around the county daily with my job, and love the communities, the school districts and the people. It’s a beautiful place to raise a family, and there is plenty of things to do and see.
One memory of “touring” O’Brien County:
I love driving around the county. I love getting lost on some back country road, or viewing the fields, and taking time to wander, hike, and spend time in the area parks. They have some of the best!
What did you learn during the COVID-19 Pandemic?
I think the one thing I took away during the Pandemic is how wonderful it is to live in rural Iowa. Honestly, I wouldn’t live any other place. The people, work ethic, attitude, down home and honest personalities. The way things happened, and how fast it moved, to see communities pull together and help serve one another was a sign of hope. If people can hold onto their humanity in a time of crisis – there is ALWAYS hope.
What is one of your favorite quotes?
“Most folks are as happy as they make up their minds to be.” – Abraham Lincoln
